Another Win for Wind – How SER Helped Make It Happen
The South Deuel Wind Project, recently approved by the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission, will bring 68 wind turbines to Deuel County, generating up to 260 megawatts of renewable energy. The $621 million project is expected to create significant economic benefits for the region, including approximately 1,617 jobs during construction and over $38 million in property tax revenue throughout its lifespan. Once operational, the project will provide long-term economic impacts with nearly 28 full-time jobs and over $1.9 million in annual earnings.
Strategic Economic Research played a key role in the project's approval by providing an Economic Impact Analysis demonstrating the project's positive impact on the local and state economy. Our president, Dr. David G. Loomis, presented expert testimony before the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission, highlighting the job creation, tax revenue, and economic growth the project will generate.
SER is proud to have contributed our expertise to help bring this project to life, supporting South Dakota's transition to a more sustainable energy future.
